2023 Coastal Broadway Collaborative Summer Intensive
DATES AND TIMES:
Monday, July 24 - Friday, July 28, 2023, from 9:30 AM - 4:30 PM
Monday, July 31 - Friday, August 4, 2023, from 9:30 AM - 4:30 PM
Monday, August 7 - Friday, August 11, 2023, from 9:30 AM to 4:30 PM
Young artists should arrive between 9:00 AM and 9:35 AM and may be picked up between 4:30 PM and 5:00 PM.
Participants will attend daily core classes as well as a variety of master classes during their three-week summer intensive. All classes are taught by working industry professionals and visiting artists. Classes and rehearsals culminate in an exhibition for the parents to showcase the participants’ efforts and abilities.

Artistic Director
Donovan
Mitchell
Donovan E. Mitchell is an actor and improviser from Virginia Beach, Virginia. A graduate of the musical theater department at Carnegie Mellon School of Drama, Donovan made his Broadway debut in Six Degrees of Separation. He has performed in various regional theaters, including The Oregon Shakespeare Festival, Geffen Playhouse, Center Theater Group, Signature Theatre, and 59e59 Theaters. He has played with The Groundlings and Second City Hollywood as an improviser. Donovan is the Director of the Theatre and Film Department at The Governor’s School for Arts of Norfolk, his alma mater. His TV credits include The Other Two, NCIS: New Orleans, Friends From College, Law and Order: SVU, and FBI. He will next be seen in this season of City On A Hill on Showtime.

Allan Decipulo
Allan Decipulo is a highly accomplished music director and pianist with an extensive musical theatre and education background. He has lent his talents to various prestigious institutions, including Broadway Dance Center, Ballet Arts, City College of New York, and Arena Stage in Washington D.C. Allan has also served as an accompanist for auditions, rehearsals, and vocal classes in New York City.
As a passionate advocate for youth in the arts, Allan has worked as a Music Director and Vocal Coach alongside other Broadway artists in Take It From The Top, a New York City-based organization that offers performance workshops for aspiring teens nationwide.
Upon returning to the Hampton Roads area, Allan's impressive portfolio continued to expand. He has accompanied the Hampton Roads Men's Chorus and the Children's Chorus of Virginia and played the keyboard for Virginia Musical Theatre and Governor's School for the Arts productions. Allan is a Teaching Artist for Young Audiences of Virginia, a music teacher at the Stratford School, and a pianist/organist at VBCC. In addition, he serves as the Musical Director and Vocal Coach in the Musical Theatre department at GSA and is one of VMT's Musical Directors.
Allan Decipulo holds a Bachelor's degree in Piano Performance from Radford University, reflecting his strong foundation in music and unwavering dedication to his craft.

Angela
Brown
Angela Brown is a musical theater veteran performer. Her Broadway credits include Mamma Mia! (Broadway), Wicked (Los Angeles cast), 42nd Street (The 2001 first national tour), Gigi (Reprise Los Angeles), and Aida (Regional). Her television credits include Victorious, Hollywood Heights, Last Man Standing, Good Morning America, The Jay Leno Show, and Ariana Grande’s music video ‘Put Your Hearts Up.’
Currently, she is a Director and Choreographer of over five shows at Busch Gardens Williamsburg. Also, Angela has taught at the renowned Governor’s School for the Arts (2019-2021) in Virginia, along with Musical Theater Workshops and Master Classes from San Francisco to New York City, where she taught dance styles from Jazz, Hip Hop, and Tap. She is an adjudicator for the World Class Talent Experience (2018-Present) and a Teacher for the Turn It Around (2021-Present) national dance convention. In addition, she is the Junior Musical Director with RPM Productions (2015-Present). She has served much-underprivileged youth throughout the years by teaching for non-profits such as ‘A Place Called Home,’ ‘The Children's Institute Performing Arts Program,’ and ‘The Broadway Connection Musical Theatre Workshops.’ Angela has choreographed for companies such as the Coastal Broadway Collaborative Summer Intensive and Theatrix Productions’ Godspell.
Angela is the owner and artistic director of Inspiring Artists, LLC., where we inspire others to cultivate their performing arts skills. Inspiring Artists has established several outreach serving arts classes for youth along with providing quality choreography and directing services.
Angela holds a B.S. degree from Norfolk State University and has studied with many great teachers in NYC and LA. She is also a proud SAG/AFTRA (Screen Actors Guild) member.
Ms. Angela has been blessed to teach and share her love of the performing arts and loves to inspire the next generation of performers for God’s glory!

Ridley
DEON RIDLEY is a musical theatre veteran performer who has performed both on and off Broadway. His Broadway Credits include ‘The Lion King’ and ‘A Christmas Carol’ starring Frank Langella at the Theatre at Madison Square Garden and the Broadway tour of ‘Chicago, the Musical’! In 2001, Deon performed with the King of Pop, Michael Jackson, at Madison Square Garden along with Whitney Houston, Usher, Jill Scott, Mya, Missy Elliott, Monica, Al Jerau, Deborah Cox, and Gloria Gaynor for Michael Jackson’s 30th Anniversary Celebration. Deon has performed in many shows internationally, including Cats in Hamburg, Germany, and has been featured in shows throughout Europe and Asia.
On tour, Deon has been seen in shows such as ‘Damn Yankees, the Musical’ and ‘Fame, the Musical.’ Deon was featured as a leading dancer and Dance Captain for Grammy Award Winning Legendary singer Celine Dion in her Las Vegas premiere show, ‘A New Day,’ at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas, with Director Franco Dragone and Emmy award-winning choreographer Mia Michaels in 2003.
Deon’s most recent credits include ‘Guys And Dolls’ at the Kennedy Center in Washington DC, ‘A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum,’ the world premiere of ‘Secondhand Lions, the Musical’ at 5th Ave Theatre in Seattle with Emmy award-winning choreographer Joshua Bergasse. Other credits include ‘The Wiz,’ ‘Spamalot,’ ‘Five Guys Named Moe,’ ‘The Lion King’ (Las Vegas), and ‘Shake Rattle and Roll’ in Monte Carlo, Monaco. His work as a choreographer includes choreographing several music videos for recording artists in the entertainment industry and, most recently, for ‘Hairspray, the Musical’ at Maltz Jupiter’s Conservatory for the Arts and for events throughout Las Vegas with Marketing Entertainment Company Freestyle Xpressions, choreographing for events such as opening night gala for Michael Jackson’s ‘This Is It’ movie Premiere at the Palms Casino, in Las Vegas, and will be seen as a dancer for Netflix’s original musical series ‘The Get Down.’ Other television appearances include The Tonight Show with Jay Leno, The Oprah Winfrey Show, Last Week Tonight Show with John Oliver, and Westworld (HBO).
